"If I had an elephant, I would be the happiest person in the world. This is the how I live my life." Sheila points out something she learned early in her art development experiences is “to trust your art - it will happen”. ABOUT Sheila dealt with dyslexia as a child, until she put a paint brush in her hand. When Sheila paints, everything falls into place -- and a magical place it is! Her imagination is vivid and her work is bright and playful, using subjects that express a concept of subconscious connections between the animals in her work and the viewer. Much like Salvador Dalí’s surreal approach, only less serious. Sheila’s love for all creatures and the joy they bring to their people is paramount in her work. Born in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Sheila attended the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, the Bloomington Center of the Arts, and the University of Minnesota – Studio Arts. She now lives in rural Michigan and surrounds herself with her animal friends.
