"I look forward to sharing with you my art inspired by years of living." ABOUTBob Klunk grew up in a Catholic family on the Southwest Side of Chicago, and was the first of his family to attend college. Academically, school was a disaster, but creatively, his life was beginning. Bob was child prodigy in art. As early as grammar school his teachers realized his natural talent & enrolled him in classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. A born wonderer, he set off to New York City in the early 1970s after dropping out of college. A midwestern boy, Bob found he was in way over his head but, his desperate devotion to being an artist and "corn-fed good looks" afforded him many opportunities in Gotham City. Having to make his own way, he supported himself by working at a gallery on 60th street. It was there he met muralist Russ Elliot, who he assisted for a year, helping him on murals, most notably at the Irving Hotel in Southampton & the River House in the city. Bob then became an assistant to Bill Cahill, a teacher at Visual Arts and a fashion photographer. This lead to his new career as a model with Zoli agency and his life took on a new direction. After a crazy four years in the city Bob moved back to Chicago to refocus his attention to art. Upon his return, his artistic life took off. He apprenticed with Susan Hunt, who taught him the process of etching and how to do art fairs throughout the country. He won numerous awards and began representation at galleries throughout the country. At this time, Bob had a place in both Chicago & Florida. At his southern home, he became known to Club Med. They hired him to do paintings for them at all their locales. Through this Bob started do murals for famous people with amazing homes and spent many years in Bermuda & Charlevoix, Michigan painting murals. In Chicago, he became acquainted with the Mayor’s wife. Through this connection he began to create children’s programs creating murals with the kids. This relationship turned into a full time job with the city. Bob then became the Artist in Residence at the Field Museum, creating the monumental etching celebrating the new Museum Campus. His water color rendering of Chicago, commissioned by the of Illinois Republican Party, was presented at the Gala 2000 Party at Navy Pier. Bob continues to be affiliated with numerous art centers and shows his work all over the United States.
