"My work focuses on relaying the voice of the landscape. I strive to create imagery that moves the viewer to re-establish their ancient connection with nature and the earth. My inspiration comes from my relationship and experiences with nature and my desire to share how I perceive the essence of the natural world. At a very early age, I felt a spiritual connection with the ways of the landscape. As a child I would go to nature to seek comfort and solitude there was a ‘spiritual connection’ there. Having reverence for nature was my first step toward a sense of spiritual connection with the life-giving force of this universe. Interacting with the natural landscape and the process of creating this work has helped me to discover this ‘Aha’ moment to become aware that the will to live and the consciousness of life is one in all of us, in all aspects of the natural world. I was educated as a fine artist in traditional media for painting and drawing later when working as a graphic designer and illustrator I became involved with digital media. Some of my current work is created with both traditional and digital media. I label these pieces “mixed media” and list the media in the order of its use in the creation of the artwork. Most often traditional media is used in 90% to 95% of the artwork’s creation." ABOUTViewers of Linda Rzoska's artwork will find themselves immersed in imagery, which explores the eternal mystery of the landscape. Rzoska portrays the landscape as a quiet and shy presence - standing back while it witnesses the doings of its human inhabitants. She talks of some primal inner affinity she felt as a child as she would walk through the forested area near her childhood home. She speaks of how she felt not only safe among the trees that surrounded her but also felt comforted and understood.vow as an adult sne visually conveys inal mysterious presence - allowing her viewers to be witnesses. She states that her artwork's purpose is to visually communicate the life essence, spirit and soul of things and places found in the natural world.Rzoska starts the creation of her artwork with a drawing - either in graphite or ink. She tells the story of her first art employment opportunity after college was working as a technical illustrator for a manufacturing company. The job gave her the opportunity to draw for eight hours a day, five days a week. The job provided the drawing time needed for her to hone her drawing skills and to practice creating accurate drawings with an acute sense of detail. To investigate the beauty and mystery of the landscape's presence Rzoska experiments with both traditional and digital media. She begins her artwork with a drawing in either graphite or ink, high resolution scans of the drawing and paintings of various media (oil pastel, chalk pastel, watercolor or acrylic and tusche) are then digitally layered together. When the digital composition is finished and proofed the digital image is printed on archival fine art paper with archival inks. Lastly, Rzoska hand applies encaustic medium to create physical texture and contrast.
