Emilija was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. From an early age her interest in painting and drawing thrived with the help of a family friend who allowed her to visit and explore his studio often.Pasagic studied landscape architecture at Belgrade University, where she met her husband. The two worked together as designers, and eventually decided to immigrate to Canada in the early 90's. The move to Canada rejuvenated her artistic flare and she quickly became involved in the vibrant Toronto art scene. SShe joined the "The Scollard Street Artistic Cooperative" and "VAO" (Visual Arts Toronto). Today, Pasagic works out of her home studio in Ontario. Her technique includes a variety of traditional and innovative techniques that reflect her mood and available supplies. She can incorporate as many as half a dozen elements into each painting. Her technique involves a unique blending of bee's wax and oil paint applied to paper, board or canvas. This contemporary application of the ancient technique of encaustic sometimes blends the paint into the hot wax, burnt into it or simply painted upon it. She often fuses paper and cloth into the pigments to create textures, and uses gold leaf and various gel mediums to add unique antique effects. Today, her paintings are represented in select galleries throughout Canada, Great Britain and the USA.
