Gil Bruvel’s artistic journey began early on in his life as the son of a renowned cabinetmaker. Growing in both age and skill, Bruvel focused on his desire to express himself and his own experiences. Bruvel’s creative intuition is advanced with a combination of modern and classical techniques that give his art features of striking precision. While elements of surrealism have been present in his works throughout his career, Bruvel’s most recent works play with the distortion of realities, duality, and multiple perspectives. His most notable series “Bending The Lines” transforms thousands of wooden shafts into stunning depictions of the human face. The pixelated outlines mimic our complex neural pathways, while his use of gradient color reinforces our minds’ interconnectedness. The wood is charred to show the impact of natural phenomena on the physical form and its inherently transient nature. Bruvel was born in Australia, but raised in the South of France. He currently resides in Wimberley, Texas. Represented by a host of art galleries worldwide, Gil Bruvel exhibits extensively and is the recipient of numerous awards.
