Anna-Marie Babington grew up in Mobile, Alabama. She earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 with a major in Visual Studies focusing on visual communication and culture through studies in Art History, Philosophy, Psychology, Film, and Fine Arts. She has also completed painting classes at the University of South Alabama. Her work centers on themes of perception, identity, mind-body connection, and experience of the physical world. Art History and cultural aesthetics inform her work, as well as her relationship with nature. While Anna-Marie employs photography to capture distinctive moments, she paints to express the amorphous ideas, feelings, curiosities, and relationships that are formed over time, hence the many layers present on her canvas. Her work provides a space for endless inquiry—a means to ask questions, explore, and experiment.Anna-Marie is also a Kripalu-trained yoga teacher with experience in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Vipassana, and Mindfulness Meditation.
