Wendie believes the artist has a responsibility to maintain a sense of play and fun. She tries to look at life with a sense of humor and playful outlook. Drawing on her childhood, and her notions of pop culture and social experiences, she create works in bronze, wood, steel, ceramic, foam, and fabrics. Her images frequently have exaggerated proportions and are rather wonky, comical, and densely textured. Wendie’s entire body of work is a collection of lighthearted whimsical sculptures that subtlety pose gentle underlying questions. She loves giving them funny or humorous titles and hoping to elicit a few smiles.
