Brent Westphal (American, b. 1989) Brent Westphal is an architect by training and a self-taught artist. Westphal’s work is labor-intensive. Westphal writes in his artist statement, “Through compositions of seemingly simple marks and gestures, I aim to create moments and atmospheres meant to be explored, examined, and discovered anew.” His work can be appreciated from a distance as a single mass or on a micro-scale as an agglomeration of unique, circular strokes of ink.
