Gayle Waterman has followed a path of creative expression during her life through writing, drawing, and minimalist design. Recently she has chosen abstract photography to articulate her artistic passion. After a professional career in Health Care Administration and Business Operations Consulting, she is creating abstractions that challenge the tradition of photography and provoke the desire to look beyond the layers of time. Gayle's path brought her to the Aspen Valley 17 years ago. She lives and works in a restored 1800's barn that she and her late husband relocated from Vermont to Basalt, Colorado. Together they built a business in historic preservation using reclaimed building materials, designing custom furniture and selling antiques. Their creative partnership opened doors for the qualities in Gayle's photography. Using a macro lense, Gayle brings intense focus on a detail of an antique object. The resulting image reveals a beauty one would never detect with the unaided eye. Gayle hopes to inspire others to look deeply and find beauty beyond the surface. Gayle's photography uses the patina of time to create art that complements the clean lines of modern design .
