MARGIE CRISP (b. 1960)Margie Crisp, is an award-winning writer, naturalist, and nationally exhibited artist whose artwork can be found in private and public collections in the United States and Mexico. Crisp has a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an honored member of the Texas Regionalists as well as the Centennial Painters group and the Art of Texas Parks Project. Originally from New Orleans, Margie Crisp resides in Elgin, just east of Austin, with herhusband and fellow artist William Montgomery. Artist statementI am an artist, writer and naturalist. Being a naturalist is completely interwoven with my creative work; I cannot imagine word or image without the wellspring of the natural world to entice, refresh, inspire and confound me. I’m driven to learn as much as I can about the plants and creatures I paint, draw and write about--the knowing is as essential as the paper, pencil and paint.
