Claire Jane Kendrick, was born in Ireland and attended college in England at Manchester Metropolitan University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree. Kendrick worked as a fashion designer in France, Belgium, Sweden and England before relocating to Florida in 2006 where she returned to painting full-time and exhibiting in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. A gifted colorist, Kendrick’s paintings are bold, rich, and beautifully textured. Her landscape, still life and figurative paintings push color as a result from her experience working as a color forecaster in Paris, France. Collectors respond to the contemporary style and expressive way in which Kendrick paints. “I love the expanse of the marshlands, the big cloudscapes, the scenery is dramatic and I try to express that in my landscape paintings. When you’re out painting in these isolated places it feels like you have the world to yourself. The subtle shifts of light can, in a moment, calm or energize the environment.”- Claire Jane Kendrick Attracting a local and international following, Claire is dedicated to pursuing her painting career since studying with Contemporary American Painters, most notably Cynthia Packard and Anne Packard. From those inspirations, Kendrick’s paintings are color sensations, passionate responses, and magical experiences. “All the senses seem to be wide open in Claire’s paintings… she is a talented and committed painter and clearly has her own voice…..a painter’s painter. I would place my bets on Claire now and in the future.”- Anne Packard, 2012
