ARTIST STATEMENTAs a landscape painter, I am caught up in the moment but that it is constantly changing. One of my great challenges is coping with this reality of change. I chase the impression. As soon as I set up - everything changes. As soon as I lift my brush - the moment has passed. In reality, I am always painting from memory. I have resigned myself to this fact. These fragile fragments and impressions themselves are changed by the act of trying to represent them in paint. I have very distinct moments that are constantly aserting themselves in my work. It is not so much an exact place or time that I am trying to evoke but rather my story about that moment.Selected Exhibitions:2019 Icon Group, Nantucket, MA2019 Davallia, Chester, VT2019 "Inclination ot Spring", Whitney Modern, Los Gatos, CA2019 NXNE: Paint, Brattleboro Museum, Brattleboro, VT2018 "Mediatations and Memories", West Branch, Stowe, VT2018 "Backstory, Kent Museum, Calais, VT2018 Blades Will Sprout", Northern Daughters, Vergennes, VT2017 "Lay of the Land", Next Stage, Putney, VT2017 "Big Stitches, Rough Cuts: A Show of Women Artists", Brattleboro, VTPublic Collections:State of Vermont, Montpelier, VTDartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, Lebanon, NHUniversity of Vermont Medical Center, Burlington, VTSelected Press:April 2019 "Julia Jensen: Capturing Northern Light in All its Variations", Artscope Magazine2018 "Artist to Watch", Vermont Arts Guide, Issue 12018 "Outdoor Palette-Julia Jensen" Northern Woodlands Magazine, Fall Issue 2015 "Scenes Remembered at West Branch Gallery, Stowe, Vermont, Artscope Magazine
