Liz Vercruysse is an award-winning clay artist and sculptor who has been working in the Omaha area for over 20 years. Vercruysse is a cofounder of the Omaha North Hills Pottery Tour and Big Table Studios in Herman Nebraska. She is focused on working with local materials and firing with wood. Her work has been exhibited nationally and resides in notable public and private collections including the Museum of Nebraska Art. “Living and working on a family farm that has been in existence for 100 plus years, I am often finding and being influenced by the artifacts left behind by previous occupants. While clay is my primary medium, I have been wanting to find a way to work with these pieces. Combining them with wood and clay I’m forming pieces that connect myself with my environment and my past. As I remove these items physically, they are replaced quickly with trees, the silt washes to clay, the iron pieces decay to earth.”-Liz Vercruysse
