Noemi Kosmowski, originally from Poland, has lived in Glenwood Springs for over a decade now. As a third generation artist, she has been involved in art her entire life. Noemi is a canvas painter, muralist, jewelry maker, art teacher and musician. She is known for her realistic portraits of people, animals, cars, and motorcycles which are true to life. The precision and masterful details she paints onto canvas is remarkable to the eye and captivates your attention. From the 1970’s through the early eighties, Noemi apprenticed under her famous father, Zdzislaw Lachur. In 1984, Noemi moved to Germany with her husband, Kristoff, where she refined her art techniques and had several private shows. After a brief stay in New York, her and her family relocated to Florida. During that time, she developed a style of realism that is truly technically amazing. Whether it be strawberries in a reflective glass or the shiny metallic engine on a Harley motorcycle, her paintings are so life-like that the viewer is fooled into thinking the work is a photograph. In 2007, Noemi and her family moved West to Colorado. The rich landscape of the roaring fork valley provides many opportunities for painting. She continues her work in realism. Private collectors treasure Noemi’s art across the United States, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Her portrait of the legendary golfer, Gene Sarazen, is hung at the Saint Andrews Gold Club in Scotland. She also painted portraits for the Andy Roddick Foundation, WTA, in New York City. Noemi was awarded by the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida for her realistic portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
