Artist Statement In my most recent work, the vast landscape is captured with a more desaturated, warm palette offering a vintage and perhaps romantic feel. Capturing the simplicity and calm that we all experience while in nature and searching for how to document our shared life experiences, my intention is to allow the landscape to evolve, creating a serene landscape sanctuary, to where we can escape, breathe and be still during these complicated times; a reprieve from the overwhelming world events and constant news about them. There’s something about the permanence, but also the fragility of the landscape that resonates with me; it’s a place to breathe and explore, and we all need to care for, nurture and be guardians of the landscape so that it is always there for us.” Bio Gina Sarro captures the vastness of the Canadian and American landscape through abstracted marks of colour and form. Trained at Emily Carr University and Alberta College of Art and Design, she balances compositional horizontals with rhythmic verticals, layering brush and knife to evoke both stillness and movement. Her technique creates space for personal reflection, inviting viewers to pause, wander, and connect with the landscape's quiet resonance.Sarro’s work is currently represented at The Christopher Hill Gallery in St. Helena, CA and numerous galleries in the USA and Canada.
