Children Under Umbrella After design by Auguste Moreau Bronze Sculpture and Fountain Signed in bronze, 2000 French sculptor Auguste Moreau was born in 1834 in Dijon. He was a student of the famous sculptor Mathurin Moreau, his namesake, and together they produced models for the manufacture of decorative bronze statuettes in the Art Nouveau style. Auguste Moreau began exhibiting small sculptures in the Salon of Paris in 1861, and continued to show his statuettes, done mostly in marble and bronze, at the yearly Salons until 1910. His figurative sculptures tend to be of genre, pastoral, and allegorical scenes. Auguste Moreau died in Malherbes, France in 1917.
