Born in 1971, Craig is a native of Montgomery Alabama and currently resides in Nashville, Tenn. He started painting in 1995 while discovering local folk artists, including Mose T and Bill Traylor. During school and in 1996 he changed his major to Studio Art/Painting, graduating in '98 from Auburn University. Mentored by artists John Wagnon and Clark Walker of Montgomery, Craig developed a style of painting. Craig's paintings are compositions with impeccable balance and movement. Colors leap from his soul onto the canvas with mutable depictions of the human figure. His work reveals a beautiful display of unbridled energy, which is entirely personal and concreted by conceptual thinking. The indiscriminate use of form, texture and color create a style that is fully his own.
