Aisar Jalil Martínez (born 1953, Camagüey, Cuba) is a Cuban artist of Lebanese descent, whose work is grounded in strong academic training (including the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Leningrad) and who has developed a rich painterly language that combines drawing, expressive colour and motifs of flora, fauna and transformation. His style typically explores the vulnerability and change of nature and human life through dream-like, sometimes surreal scenes where technical discipline meets imaginative freedom. He has exhibited widely, including solo shows such as “Onírica” at Galería Collage Habana in Havana in 2011, and through galleries such as Galería Cernuda Arte in Miami. Among his recognitions, he received the Premio Alfredo Sosabravo for a set of plates , a testament to his versatility beyond painting. In sum, Jalil Martínez is an artist who bridges rigorous technical formation and conceptual resonance, and whose exhibitions in prominent Cuban and international venues underline his standing in contemporary Cuban visual arts.
