For Alberto, art isn’t something he chose — it’s something that’s always been there, like breath. Born into creativity, he learned to draw and paint at his mother’s side, studying the great Costa Rican masters before most children learned to write. By seventeen, he was already selling small works, but it wasn’t until 2020 that he surrendered completely to his calling. Since then, painting has been both his passion and his profession — a way of life rooted in emotion, instinct, and reflection. Working from his finca in the mountains of Nicoya, surrounded by rivers and waterfalls, Alberto paints in pure connection with nature. The quiet, the air, the pulse of the land — all become part of his process being in this place of peace for his subjects to emerge. He works with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and drawing, believing that each story demands its own medium and voice. His creations are born not from plans but from sensations — a sound, a flavor, a fleeting feeling that insists on becoming form and color. Alberto’s art explores Costa Rican identity, pride, and legacy while honoring the beauty of the ordinary — a morning ritual, a simple meal, a quiet moment of stillness — transforming the everyday into the eternal on canvas. Deeply connected to his community in Guanacaste, he sees art as both mirror and memory, something to be cherished, protected, and passed down. Sol Gallery proudly presents Alberto’s art — a living dialogue between Costa Rica’s natural soul and the quiet search for meaning in the ordinary moments.
