Alberto Domínguez Castillo (born 1989 in Matanzas, Cuba) is a Cuban visual artist and designer based in Havana whose work investigates the boundaries between object, space and function. He studied at the Academy of Plastic Arts “Roberto Diago Querol” in Matanzas (2004–2008) and at the University of the Arts (ISA) in Havana (2009–2014). His style moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, furniture-object and installation: for example his series Genética. Serie Espacios Complementarios explores architectural and spatial tensions, while in Funcionalmente Disfuncional he re-works the idea of the furniture object so that form and material gesture displace strict utility. Domínguez has exhibited in notable Cuban venues including Galería Collage Habana (Havana) where his piece “Mueble 01” from Funcionalmente Disfuncional was shown. He was also included in major collective exhibitions such as XIV Bienal de La Habana (2022) in the show “Fabulaciones de la piedra a la PC”. While specific major awards are not widely documented, his work was pre-selected in competitive platforms such as the Post‑it Arte Contemporáneo Cubano series (for example for the 10th edition) which speaks to his recognition among emerging Cuban artists.
