Alice Williams Known for her incredibly strong color and composition, Williams has been creating charming interiors, landscapes and figurative paintings for the last thirty-five years. Influenced greatly by her mother’s love for the arts, (her mother was, herself, a fine pianist) and having grown up surrounded by a copious collection of beautiful oils collected over time from her mother’s many trips to Europe and Asia, Alice’s style is reminiscent of the Impressionists yet uniquely her own with a modern day appeal. Her paintings have a striking immediacy as she brings to the viewer her own world of cozy interiors and cottage garden scenes, many of which are painted on location right in her own home. Her story is a never-ending fascination with light. It is not surprising that she is represented in some of the finest private homes and several corporate collections in the United States. Living and painting in Europe from 1986 to 1990 has given added dimension to William’s work. At home in Paris the last two years of her sojourn, she lived within walking distance of the Louve and Musee d’ Orsay, having the benefit of studying some of the greatest master works. She painted extensively throughout France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Holland and England, giving even more variety to her subject matter and a subtle beauty to her colors. A prolific painter, her brushstrokes denote the bravado of a master and she has years of experience and the confidence born of studying from many of the most well known painters of the 20th century such as Chatov, Shank, Kintsler and Al Green. Her remarkable versatility of subject matter, her use of dynamic colour and the beautiful effect of chiaroscuro present in her paintings are just a few of the many qualities that make her one of the most recognizable and sought after painters in America today.
