Amber Goldhammer paints vibrant, abstract or near-abstract compositions, typically in acrylic on canvas and often featuring blocks of color or drips of paint that she renders using only her hands. A former student of Rassouli, the founder of the Fusionart movement that aims to marry Eastern mysticism with Western art techniques, Goldhammer strives to express emotion in her paintings, and frequently draws inspiration for her palette from the colors of the ocean. “The organic quality is enhanced by the role nature plays,” she has said, “as many of my works are created with sand from the beach and are left in the sun, helping to produce unique textures and variations in the surfaces.”
