Amy Heath is a contemporary figurative artist born in San Francisco, California, who currently lives and works in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Society of Women Artists and is known for her evocative works on paper and paintings that explore the human form. Heath’s artistic foundation is built upon a rigorous art education in London. She completed a BTEC in Art & Design at Richmond upon Thames College before earning a BA (Hons) in Painting from the Chelsea College of Art (UAL) in 1997. She subsequently furthered her studies with an MA in Drawing from the Wimbledon School of Art (UAL), graduating in 2004. Her practice has been enriched by unique experiences within the art world, most notably her time spent as an artist's model for Dame Paula Rego, sitting for the renowned Abortion Series in the late 1990s. A regular exhibitor across the UK, Heath has showcased her work at prestigious venues including the Mall Galleries in London. She has been selected for the Society of Women Artists’ Annual Open Exhibitions on multiple occasions, including the 161st, 162nd, and 163rd editions. Her recent achievements include being longlisted for the Visual Art Open (VAA) Professional Artist Award in 2023 and the Women in Art Prize in 2024. In addition to her fine art practice, Heath has an established background in illustration, having produced work for children’s books such as Marvin the Moonling and Along Came George. Her work continues to garner attention for its distinct style and emotive quality, securing her place as a compelling voice in contemporary British figurative art.
