Andrea Hopgood is a multidisciplinary artist working from Melbourne, Australia. Her practise is expansive and meticulous. She works from her own images of her surroundings. Ethereal in nature, Hopgood’s style features loosely rendered brushstrokes evoking an atmosphere reminiscent of Clarice Beckett’s works. Her acrylic work captures the landscape, light, and a sense of connection with the Australian landscape; it’s nostalgic, familiar, and quiet in the way that makes you realise you’re finally breathing fresh air. Alongside art practice, Andrea has been a teacher for over 30 years. She works with a range of mediums and techniques, including, paint, clay, wire, pastel, crochet and pencil. Classes are held in her Paperworks Gallery Studio, an airy and light filled Art space, set amongst the garden at Quorn Cottage, Inglis Rd, Berwick. The Studio garden is filled with quirky sculptures made from recycled items once discarded as scrap, reincarnated by Andrea's husband, David.
