Andy Llanes Bultó is a Cuban artist currently based in Louisville, Kentucky, whose work reinterprets the classical tradition of the nude through a contemporary lens. Using materials such as gold leaf and oil paint, he explores themes of intimacy, conflict, desire, and ritual through figures that engage in ambiguous, suggestive interactions—balancing tenderness and tension. Educated at Havana’s provincial academy of plastic arts and later at the Higher Institute of Art, Bultó’s training underpins his commitment to technique, compositional balance, and material sensibility. His work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo show at Ron Mandos, Amsterdam (2024), and participation in fairs like Art Madrid ’25. Through his poetic use of gold, pollen‑dyed paper, and body language, Bultó’s visual language challenges notions of masculinity, attraction, and vulnerability—inviting the viewer to probe the boundaries between power, touch, and inner emotion. Andy Llanes Bultó (born 1987 in Artemisa, Havana, Cuba) is a contemporary Cuban artist whose work centres on the human figure rendered through traditional technique, most notably oil paint and gold-leaf, while engaging deeply with themes of desire, intimacy, conflict and ritual. After training at the Provincial Academy of Plastic Arts and later at the Higher University Institute of Art in Havana, he developed a distinctive visual voice that blends classical figuration with metaphorical content drawn from nature and culture. His style is marked by finely detailed figures—often in motion or entangled—with luminous backgrounds and symbolic materials (for example pollen-dyed paper or gold leaf) that reference both seduction and natural forces. Bultó has exhibited internationally, including shows at Sager Reeves Gallery (United States) where he participated in Cuban contemporary exhibitions starting in 2018, and at Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam among others. Among his accolades, he has received scholarships such as the Sager Braudis Scholarship (USA) and the Isolo.17 Scholarship (Italy) in recognition of his practice.
