Angela Brittain is a contemporary artist known for her imaginary, figurative works that possess strong narrative content. Her artistic journey began with the encouragement of her father, leading her to art school at a time when many of her peers were pursuing more academic careers. Angela initially established herself as a graphic designer, incorporating illustration into her commercial work wherever possible. A pivotal moment in her career arrived in the 1990s when she was selected for the Sunday Times "Best of British Watercolour" competition. Encouraged by this success, she increased her output and eventually transitioned to painting full-time.Angela’s aim is to merge figurative and abstract art to create a visual dialogue regarding "what needs to be said and what needs to be unsaid." Her work is noted for its dynamic compositions which offer an immediate visual impact, layered with a subtlety that reveals itself upon closer inspection. Her subject matter frequently celebrates women—depicting the complexity of their busy lives, the joy of their experiences, and the enduring support found in female friendships. An elected member of the prestigious Society of Women Artists (SWA), Angela exhibits regularly in London, notably at the Mall Galleries and The Russell Gallery in Putney. She is also an elected member of the Association of Sussex Artists and exhibits across the South of England with the Horsham Artists Trail.Angela maintains a studio in Italy, and her work is held in private collections across Italy, the UK, and the United States.
