Antonio Molinari is a Detroit based artist who brings a contemporary flare to Abstract Expressionism, focusing on relationships between color flow and canvas manipulation. Born and raised in Michigan, he credits his artistic inspiration from his childhood spent in the countryside, where he fell in love with nature at a very young age. Molinari particularly recalls admiring a view across an open hillside leading to a magnificent treeline, waking up early just to watch the sunrise and “waiting for the rays of light to dance across the treetops”. He says, “I love that memory so much that I am compelled to capture it in hopes to share that same bliss of inspiration.” Antonio Molinari’s childhood romanticism led him to pursue an education in the arts, and in 2003 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Currently, he is a creative designer at Lincoln Motor Company designing concept car interiors. Molinari creates fine art in his free time, where he draws his inspiration from nature, patterns, and textures to create stunning and colorful large-scale contemporary paintings. Inspired by the techniques of Paul Jenkins, Helen Frankenthaler, and Jackson Pollock, Molinari directly pours both metallic and vibrant colors across a sculpted canvas, resulting in an array of mesmerizing tones and shapes. Molinari's technique focuses oncolors interlacing in such a way that there is an illusion of depth, like crossing veils suspended without gravity. While his use of color is undeniably exciting, it is still refined and gentle in its execution. Regardless of interpretation, the relationship between these transparencies and hues invites us into an intimate moment. Antonio Molinari is an award-winning artist whose paintings grace the walls of many discerning collectors and is represented in fine art galleries throughout the United States. Artist Statement: When painting, I feel like I’m pouring emotions onto the canvas, always chasing, and trying to capture a positive reflection of a moment. To me, the paint has to be fluid and graceful, personifying emotional transitions that arise within all of us. This is whatmakes us human and sparks heartfelt connections. I fell in love with painting abstracts because it is such a departure from my daily design work. The expression and emotion of the paintings aren’t defined by feasibility guidelines. I have a fond appreciation for when my abstracts aren’t followed up withquestions like “how are we going to build this?” The freedom from rules is marvelous and pursuing both techniques truly enhance the other. It’s how I achieve the highest sense of balance with all my artistry. My paintings focus on these connections; through harmonious movements of paint, I take people on a journey. It can be a brief moment of uplifting energy or an hour of deep inspiration, but my greatest reward is moving the viewer emotionally. My goal isto have my works of art produce a positive energy and visual connection to the viewer.
