atiya jones is an interdisciplinary abstract artist exploring themes of human connection, mental health, gender/sexuality and socio-economic disparities through her craft. Utilizing two distinct mark-making lexicons she’s dubbed “WildLines” and “Brain Maps,” she incorporates lines and symbolism to create works that are universally approachable and therefore inclusive to all peoples. jones produces artwork through the mediums of drawing, painting, photography, graphic design and fiber art. She has built a connection with her local community by sharing her artwork through a diverse cache of public visual contributions and speaking engagements. Her work has been collected by the Carnegie Museum of Art, The Benter Foundation, and several private collections. She has produced projects for Proctor & Gamble, Old Blood Noise Endeavors, and Pittsburgh businesses Trace Brewing, Dancing Gnome, White Whale Bookstore and Meshworks Press. Originally hailing from Brooklyn, NY, jones has lived in and created for Pittsburgh since 2016. Her philosophy is that art is, and should be, everywhere.
