Bhavani Krishnan was born in Switzerland, raised in India, and now paints from her home in Oregon. After earning a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and working in engineering, she returned to her love of painting in 2012 and made it her full-time focus in 2016. Influenced by her early years hiking through India’s mountain ranges, Bhavani now paints wilderness scenes that reflect the grandeur and atmosphere of the natural world. She works primarily in oil, blending abstract color and shape into expressive, representational work. Painting from life remains her favorite challenge, where she’s most inspired by shifting light, bold color, and strong form. Her work has earned national recognition, with awards from the American Impressionist Society and Pacific Northwest Plein Air. She was also featured in Plein Air Magazine’s “10 Artists to Collect Now” in 2021, and her paintings are held in collections around the world.
