Bill Breidenbach is an established artist based in Northborough, MA. He received formal training in fine art at Ohio Wesleyan University where he concentrated in graphic arts, figure drawing, painting, and design. Bill’s double major education in fine art and economics has underpinned parallel careers as artist and entrepreneur. While building businesses in the health care industries, he continued independent studies and attended the Worcester Art Museum School and numerous workshops around the U.S.Since 2005, Bill has pursued a full-time fine art practice, focusing primarily on plein air oil painting. He describes his creative approach as technical; beginning with a preliminary sketch in neutral or sienna-orange to develop value and composition, he then identifies the focal point and builds out the composition. Once back in the studio, he uses a large palette to mix key base colors before beginning to paint, and proceeds by touching the canvas as sparingly as possible.Bill’s works continue to evolve and recent series have become more figurative to reflect the increasing importance of the figure in his story-telling process.Bill is an active member and affiliate of many artists’ organizations, including the Providence Art Club, the Worcester Art Museum, Oil Painters of America, and the American Impressionists Society. His work has also been featured and awarded in numerous events such as the Paint Cuba Invitational by Plein Air Magazine, the Maryland Federation of Art’s Dinner Push, the Bold Brush top picks at Haymarket Square, Linden Place in Warwick, RI; Small Stones in Grafton, MA; and the Annual Plein Air Salon Competition in Valencia, Spain.
