Bill Hamilton’s lifelong passion for art began in childhood, when he spent hours sketching cartoons, animals, and landscapes—an early sign of the gift he calls “a precious blessing from God.” After completing a two-year program in commercial and technical illustration at Oregon Technical Institute, he began his career as a technical illustrator in California’s aerospace industry. There, he learned airbrushing and oil painting techniques that would shape his professional and fine art journey. By his early twenties, Hamilton was exhibiting and selling his work in San Francisco Bay Area galleries while continuing his career as an illustrator and art director for Westinghouse Electric and later at Lawrence Livermore Research Laboratory, where he worked for twenty-seven years. Throughout that time, he painted in oils, watercolor, and acrylics, refining his easel work and developing his distinctive style of luminous realism. In 1993, Hamilton returned to his native Oregon, where he has painted full-time ever since. His landscapes and wildlife scenes reflect a lifetime of observation, craftsmanship, and gratitude—for both the beauty of creation and the gift of creativity itself.
