Born in Bremerton, Washington in 1956, Bob Kimball grew up in the small coastal town of Poulsbo, where fishing and hard work were part of daily life. At sixteen, he began apprenticing with his father, one of the area’s most skilled stonemasons, and went on to work in the trade for over thirty years. His lifelong connection to the Pacific Northwest and its waters would later find new expression through art. After three decades of stonework, Bob turned his creative focus to glassblowing, spending five years immersed in the craft and building connections in the art world. Among those who influenced his journey was artist Micajah Bienvenu, who introduced him to the art of metalwork and the skill of bending and shaping metal with precision and imagination. Drawing on a lifetime of fishing and craftsmanship, Bob now creates sculptural works that blend metal and glass—most notably his signature fish forms. Each piece reflects his deep familiarity with the subject and his mastery of form, balance, and material. By combining strength and delicacy, tradition and innovation, Kimball transforms his lifelong passions into striking, one-of-a-kind artworks.
