Bob Stuth-Wade (American b. 1953)Born in Norfolk, VA; resides in Dublin, TX Bob Wade was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1953 to Robert and Joyce Wade. A month later his father, a naval aviator, died in a training accident in Tunisia. His mother moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, with her infant son to be near family, and married Harry Stuth in 1955. After high school, he acknowledged both fathers with the hyphenated last name, Stuth-Wade. Before he entered grade school, Harry Stuth enrolled Stuth-Wade in an adult art class with Mary Sloan in Corpus Christi. After moving to Dallas, Stuth-Wade's self-directed art education continued while he was a student at Jesuit College Preparatory School under his mentor Perry Nichols. His talent earned him his first one-person exhibition at Fairmount Gallery while he was still a student at Jesuit. He has continued working as an artist for over 50 years, creating an eclectic breadth of work that has been written about by Eleanor Jones Harvey of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Frederick Turner of American Arts Quarterly, Judy Deaton of The Grace Museum in Abilene, Rebecca Lawton of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, and Ramsha Vistro in Artists & Illustrators, a British publication. Best known for luminous Texas landscapes he begins on site, some of Stuth-Wade's favorite subjects include the Colorado River area near San Saba, Texas and Big Bend National Park. With an art career beginning in his teens, the seasoned artist continues his dedication to paint and exhibit regularly with his most notable exhibitions in collaboration with his long-standing gallery partner, Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden in Dallas. Recently two of Stuth-Wade's paintings were selected for The Art of Texas State Parks: A Centennial Celebration, 1923-2023, an invitational project resulting in a published book and a traveling exhibition appearing at six museums and benefitting the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Stuth-Wade has been selected for over twenty solo exhibitions, including notable museum exhibitions at San Angelo Museum of Art in San Angelo, The Grace Museum in Abilene, Jesuit Dallas Museum in Dallas, Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, and Old Jail Art Center in Albany.
