Bobby Goldsmith My work is inspired by the praries of Oklahoma, where I was born and raised and by the beautiful seascapes of the Gulf coast where I now live. I am a self-taught full-time artist. I live in Perkinston Mississippi with my wife and fellow artist Deana Goldsmith. Together we have raised four children and now we travel all over the country setting up at fine art shows. My style of art is realism to say the least. I find great joy in all the little details and love to wow the viewer. Next to my love for realism is my passion for black and white. I am blown away how you can create an image just by changing the values. To me black and white are calming and in this,"in your face" world, I think we can all appreciate a little calmness. The third element of my style is nature of course. My hope is that the time I spend exploring the great outdooors and composing the images will be felt by the viewer. To know that my work touches them the way it touched me is I think the greatest achievement. Original artworks are drawn on prepared primed panels using my own specially formulated primer. The drawings are created with graphite pencil and graphite powder. A variety of tools are used including erasers, sandpaper, razor blades, and fiberglass brushes. No other form of media is used in the creation of my drawings. No photo manipulation or digital altering. My frames are custom made by me. They are constructed of wood and are made to have the appearance of raw steel.
