His distinctive compositions, both figurative and landscapes, move with energy, intensity and poetry to create pictures with a sense of presence – and always a story. These trademarks of Brent’s work are the result of his passion for painting and observing in the present, whether life drawing in the studio or painting in the field. It is this raw, immediate connection with his subject that is the constant and impetus on his journey as a painter. In his early career, Lynch operated at the top of the field as an illustrator, painter and designer. His work was commissioned by leading corporations, agencies, publishers, professional arts and sports organizations. However, it was his artistic event posters that became the best known and created a strong popular following. The original paintings for these posters hang in collections around the world. Throughout his career, he has been honoured with many coveted national and international arts awards for his work in both painting and design. He often escapes the coldest months of winter painting in and around Todos Santos, BCS Mexico, a small town on the Baja Pacific side. When he’s not traveling, you’ll find him in his studio on Vancouver Island, painting on the ocean shore of the northwest…his home.
