Carol has a contemporary & progressive outlook and her heart remains rooted in giving back to her community, encouraging young adults along their journey, respecting differences of culture, religious choice, caring about our planet, educating the youth, the importance of history and caring about humanity. She believes the purity of our freedoms were meant to help us find a better way….to push forward, to use our intelligence with good will, that enriches us to understand how precious freedoms are….and to lead us on a lighted path that encompasses human dignityand respects the differences of life, differences of choice, differences of people…. Carol was born in the Southwest Oregon region & grew up on working ranch/dairy farms in Oregon…and later…in Texas. Living in the country, they had a four digit telephone number, she rode her first horse at age 3, caught her first rainbow trout at 4 years of age, learned to drive pickups & tractors at age 13 and …after chores were done and any free time was available…she played in the grand-old redwoods & along the coastal beaches or she would sit with her mother, who was an oil painter, who painted sea scapes, landscapes and windmills. Carol’s grandmother, Frances, was an artist and worked in a gallery in California, and Carol’s aunt Janet, was a western art oil painter, who lived in Montana. Being an Oregonian is knowing & respecting the land, the physical giant, rugged raw power, beauty & freedom of the Pacific Northwest Coast….and it naturally imprinted itself upon Carol at an early age. Later….her family moved from this unique paradise & lived among the straight, infinite skies that kiss the flat Texas Panhandle. Later again, as a young woman, Carol moved…where she loves living in the surround- sound of the enchanted, spiritual environment of New Mexico….its lyrical travel & great respect for its history…for its people…and its unique light…its the late afternoon hues…itsthe sienna dancing shadows on the mountains….it’s a highlighter of golden light dancing through the dessert….its the sunrise….its the sunset…that attract many artists to New Mexico. Carol retired from Albuquerque Arts Business Organization/ARTScrawl in 2023 after serving 20 years as President. She is an Albuquerque Local Treasure recipient awarded to artists who have given back to their community. She also served as a director of the Board of Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau, 2007-2008 and she supports many area & local foundations.
