Cecilia Moy Fradet was born in Hong Kong and raised in New York City. Cecilia grew up immersed in the rhythm of brushstrokes—her father a calligrapher, her grandfather a landscape painter—planting the seeds of a lifelong passion for visual art. These early influences instilled a deep appreciation for line, form, and the subtle power of gesture, qualities that continue to shape her work today. Her formal training spanned New York City’s High School of Art and Design, City College of New York, Goldsmiths University in London, and both Parsons The New School for Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design. Eleven years as a fashion designer in Manhattan, combined with extensive travel across Europe and Asia, enriched her visual vocabulary, giving her a unique command of color, texture, and composition. Since relocating to Weston, Connecticut in 1992, Cecilia has devoted herself fully to her art, translating her rich design sensibilities and worldly experiences into paintings that resonate with emotion and intellect. Her work offers a refined yet vibrant presence, revealing layers of memory, influence, and narrative that draw viewers in and reward repeated engagement.
