For over three decades, nationally renowned sculptors Mark Holland and Cindy Lewis traveled the country full-time, studying their subjects firsthand from the wild. Eventually, they made their home near Chiloquin, Oregon, along the Pacific Flyway—a perfect setting for their shared love of birds and nature. Although each was capable of creating independently, Mark and Cindy always preferred to work collaboratively. Together, they achieved remarkable accuracy and character in their bird sculptures, often placing works in progress among live birds to study details such as head width, feather pattern, and proportion. Their process reflected both artistry and reverence for their subjects.Their work has been featured in prestigious exhibitions nationwide, including the Waterfowl Festival, Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, NatureWorks Wildlife Art Show & Sale, and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s acclaimed juried exhibition Birds in Art. Mark Holland’s spirit left his body in October 2021 at the age of 92—he was still creating and birding until the very end. Every sculpture displayed today remains a testament to their enduring collaboration. Cindy continues their shared legacy, completing commissions and new works that honor both their partnership and their deep connection to the natural world.
