Born in Canada in 1970, David Drebin is an internationally acclaimed, New York City-based multidisciplinary artist known for his cinematic, emotionally evocative works that span photography, lightboxes, neon installations, crystal etchings, diamond dust pieces, and his revolutionary “photo sculptures.” A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Drebin began his career in commercial photography before swiftly transitioning into the world of contemporary fine art, where his distinctive style—described as epic, dramatic, dreamy, imaginative, sexy, and smart—has garnered a global following.Drebin's striking visuals often feature allusive femme fatales, dreamlike cityscapes, and narrative-rich compositions that invite psychological reflection and ignite the viewer's imagination. His unique artistic voice has led to collaborations with top-tier brands such as Mercedes, American Express, Adidas, Nike, Sony, and Davidoff, as well as features in publications like Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, GQ, and National Geographic. Since his first solo exhibition at Camera Work in Berlin in 2005 and the publication of Love and Other Stories in 2007, Drebin has been represented by some of the world’s most prestigious galleries and art fairs including Art Basel Miami, with exhibitions spanning New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Berlin, Istanbul, and beyond.Widely collected and exhibited, Drebin’s artworks—often referred to simply as “Drebins”—are instantly recognizable and deeply resonant. He has released eight acclaimed books with teNeues Publishing, including The Morning After, Beautiful Disasters, Chasing Paradise, Dreamscapes, Love and Lights, Before They Were Famous, Collectors Edition, and most recently, Flirting With Danger. Through his voyeuristic yet deeply human lens, Drebin offers viewers a window into heightened emotional realities, tapping into desires, memories, and fantasies we all share.
