Ann Arbor, Michigan artist Deborah Eyde’s work is deeply engaged with materiality, memory and the interplay between the natural and human worlds. She creates her paintings in encaustic, a material that allows for layering, scraping, depth of color and beautiful translucent surfaces. Her subjects are both figurative and landscape with simplified shapes and forms representing the human figure and landscape fragments. Her process is spontaneous and intuitive, yet structurally balanced. Deborah studied art at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago as well as in Italy at the Lorenzo de Medici School of Art in Florence. Her work is shown in galleries in Michigan and Chicago.
