DeVon was born in Hollywood, California, in 1968. After the early loss of his father, a young film producer, his family relocated from Hollywood to the San Francisco Bay Area and later to rural Utah near Park City, an environment that played a formative role in his creative development. Originally trained in classical and jazz music, DeVon earned a college scholarship before shifting his focus to Visual Arts following early commercial success creating screen printed fine art and text based designs. At the University of Utah, he developed a custom Bachelor’s degree in Arts Promotion that combined studio practice with business and marketing studies and culminated in an internship with the curator’s office of the Supreme Court of the United States. He later pursued advanced studies in art history and language throughout Europe, becoming fluent in Spanish, French, and Italian. DeVon has owned and managed galleries in Beverly Hills, Laguna Beach, Carmel, San Francisco, Park City, and Aspen, and has lectured internationally across Europe, Asia, Russia, and South America. Working in mixed media, DeVon creates layered compositions of collage, acrylic paint, diamond dust, and Swarovski crystals sealed beneath high gloss resin. Drawing from pop culture, fashion, history, psychology, and mass media, his work reflects a Pop Art lineage while exploring reappropriation, archetype, and the hero’s journey, reframing familiar imagery to reveal deeper cultural and psychological narratives.
