Explosive, colorful, textural poetry cuts through the veil. Fusing dreams in her vibrant garden studio by the pond, American expressionist Dorothy Fagan paints with her heart. Dorothy's vibrant emotive brushstrokes tell stories of reconnecting with her mother, soul sister, self. Truthful, heartful hues from within ~ the bond is formed immediately ~ fusion! The title of one of her paintings explains: Join'd We Light the Night. Dreams unleashed by drawing with willow charcoal into wet oil pigments, Dorothy begins her paintings in the garden with earthy hues and grit. Applying oil paint with a trowel-sized palette knife, she selects red earth with yellow ochre to ground the body through each painting. Feet in the sand, the heart takes her hand and scrawls automatically, drawing threads of energy through her heart. As if taking dictation from the creatrix, Dorothy unravels each drawing on the canvas, some threads spanning multiple paintings to tell the story of lifetimes, dream worlds, waking worlds, past lives, interwoven by the heart with love. Personal and universal, the experience is visceral. "I can taste the colors," she says. I feel it in my body as I paint, hovering above the canvas, showing me which colors, where, and when to pause." Life's symphony of color, Sing my heart, mine soul.
