Edouard Duval Carrié is a contemporary Haitian-American artist, sculptor, and curator based in Miami, Florida. Born and raised in Haiti in 1954, Duval Carrié fled the regime of "Papa Doc" Duvalier as a teenager and subsequently resided in locales as diverse as Puerto Rico, New York, Montreal, Paris, Miami. Duval-Carrié studied at the Université de Montréal and McGill University in Canada before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola College, Montréal in 1978. He later attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, from 1988 to 1989. He exhibited in Europe and the Americas. His work reflects the culture and history of Haiti, with references to the Voodoo religion. "Duval-Carrié brings together popular traditions and contemporary trends."
