Edward Lightner Born in California’s San Joaquin Valley in 1960, it is here that Edward Lightner becamefascinated with the vibrant interplay between color, line, shape and form. He became intriguedearly on with the expressive power of art; with the ability to convey views and ideas through avisual format, and how that vision could and would be viewed by others. Edward embarked on his formal artistic education at California State University Bakersfield, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Edward furthered his artistic development by travelingacross Europe and then continuing his studies at the University of South Florida and New YorkCity, finally returning to California to complete his master's degree at California State UniversityNorthridge. Edward's artistic philosophy was evolving over this time, remaining socially andpolitically relevant, while recognizing the dual capacity of his work to also embrace theaesthetics of beauty, pattern, and decoration. To this end, in recent years he has directed hiscreative energy towards crafting numerous kaleidoscopic patterns, with all of these patternsbeing derived from satellite photographs of underground atomic testing sites in the United States. Beyond his role as an artist, Edward Lightner also has contributed to the Los Angeles art scene,co-owning a gallery for a decade. Currently, he serves on the Board of Governors at OtisCollege of Art and Design in Los Angeles, furthering his commitment to the arts. He hasexhibited from Los Angeles to New York, and internationally with exhibitions in Australia, Asiaand Europe. Today, Edward resides and works in Pasadena, California.
