Eric Abrecht's work appears in galleries throughout North America and is collected worldwide. Primarily working with the landscape as his subject matter, Abrecht allows the painting to develop its subject matter, rather than working from or recreating a specific scene. By working conceptually, he allows the work to develop a freedom from the boundaries normally associated with the traditional landscape. The conceptual process also allows the notions of color and shape to be manipulated into a piece that leaves the viewer with questions as well as answers. He chooses to leave the location a mystery so that each viewer can decide its origin. Eric often overlaps abstract designs into his landscapes for a touch of structure. The work remains dreamy, but develops an architectural component that hints at Eric's other passion: creating vignettes and murals (think vintage wine bars and old time automotive repair shops) in clients' homes and offices. Abrecht is a graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art and resides with his wife and two children in Baltimore Maryland.
