Haitian artist Fritz Charles was born in Port-au-Prince in 1940. He completed his primary and secondary studies at Lycée Pétion and went to the J.B. Damier Professional School to learn to be a mechanic. He studied painting with Pierre Edugene and participated in an exhibit organized by the Centre d'Art in 1968. His art is cited in the book Haiti Voodoo Kingdom To Modern Riviera by John Allen Franciscus, 1980, pp. 58.
