Born in Argentina, Gabriela Aguilo's family immigrated to the United States when her father, a prototype toolmaker, was recruited by NASA. The craftsmanhip & precision of her father inspired Aguilo to pursue the Arts. She began her professional career as a fashion designer, later transitioning to fine art, but always instilling a dreamy yet balanced quality to her work. After a period spent crafting stone sculpture, Gabriela Aguilo turned to her current method, which she has been perfecting for numerous years. Working with gouache paint (which can be diluted like watercolor, but is opaque like an acrylic) and a centuries-old encaustic method (adding colored pigments to heated wax) allows Gabriela to create her ethereal abstracts and abstracted landscapes. All of her pieces not only have depth…they have a significant story to tell.
