Garth was born in the Big Sky Country of Helena, MT where he grew up in the outdoors with his father and grandfather exposing him to the wonders of fly-fishing the streams of the Mountain West. Some of his earliest memories include those of his grandfather painting with oils in the outdoors and he remains inspired to this day by some of those paintings he has kept through the years. He currently resides in Burley, ID where he has lived most of his life. His love of the great outdoors, memories of his dad backpacking across streams to find the best fishing spots and the special spiritual experience of the crystal clear low waters of the fall season inspire his works, many of which hang in some of the best known galleries throughout the Mountain West. Garth feels particularly blessed by the professional relationship and strong personal friendship that he developed with renowned Impressionist Robert Moore. He has painted out of the Robert Moore Studio in Declo, ID for many years and that collaboration continues to bear fruit in the development of his style. Garth often speaks of his amazement with the rapid progress of time, and yet the ever-abiding gifts that God sets forth in his path as a man and an artist.
