Gerard Frank is a multidisciplinary artist and award‑winning tattooist whose practice spans more than two decades of painting, drawing, and design for the human form. With a foundation in screen printing and a lifelong exploration of image across media, Gerard cultivates a painterly language that moves fluidly between two and three dimensions. His work is defined by a disciplined approach to layering—each stroke, texture, and color is conceived in relation to the next, yielding images that feel both crafted and intuitive. From early training in commercial art to a career printing for Hewlett Packard, Boeing, and Lucent Technologies, he developed exacting standards for color, surface, and process. In 2013, he opened Sail Away Tattoo, a venture that now houses his painting studio, merging body art with fine art exploration. Gerard’s recent work embraces autonomous painting, driven by process and instinct, with a focus on expressive, readable imagery that resonates with collectors.
