Guido Mauas is a visual artist and writer born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began writing his first stories and exploring the world of visual arts and drawing at the age of 14. After finishing high school, he studied two years of pure mathematics at the UBA (University of Buenos Aires), driven by a search for a kind of abstract beauty. After completing literary translation studies in English, Mauas worked briefly as a freelance translator and ghost writer. Eventually, he fully dedicated himself to art and fiction writing. He studied painting with international masters on three occasions: twice receiving a scholarship for Antonio López García's chair in Spain, and later studying with Mark Tennant at the New York Academy of Arts. His work has gained significant recognition. His paintings and drawings have been acquired by private collectors across Argentina, Europe, Asia, and the United States. In 2008, his short story "El palomar" (The Dovecote) was a finalist for the Mujica Láinez Prize and published in the corresponding anthology. In 2017, he was a finalist in the "Gran Premio Pintura Banco Provincia" (Banco Provincia Painting Grand Prize). In 2021, he wrote and directed his first short film, "El escarabajo" (The Beetle), which has been selected in various international independent film festivals.
